You asked! Fire Newt are delivering!
When Jack and I stepped back from making standard Carrooka boards at the end of May, there were shouts and cries of “why isn’t Carrooka made in Britain anymore?” And we listened.
We had carefully selected our licensed makers in Canada, Hungary and India because of their ability to produce beautiful products and to make them available worldwide. They are doing an incredible job at growing the Carrooka revolution, but we had hugely under-estimated demand for a homegrown Carrooka board.
Well, we’re pleased and proud to announce that an established British company call Fire Newt are stepping in to fill that chasm. After lots of collaboration, trips to Leek for training and huge amounts of planning, Matt and John, a father and son team from Peterorough, will soon be making the Carrooka boards that you know and love. But before they do that, they are launching with a brand-new version of our game!
Fire Newt’s Kickstarter campaign is going live very soon, and you’ll be able to pledge for Carrooka Compact, which allows you to play both snooker and pool variations on a compact 68cm board.
Jack and I have tested out Carrooka Compact and we love it. The long-shots are not quite as long, but there is still plenty of challenge to engage, frustrate and excite. Making it perfect for families and ideal for bars and cafes.
Thinking back to 2021 when we first launched Carrooka with a Kickstart campaign, we remember the nerves and trepidation that we felt. We know that Matt and John are going to be filled with those same emotions right now as they launch their campaign, we also know that you lovely bunch will give them loads of support!
